one of the most famous italian actors, played a wide range of characters: from the factory worker to the mafia boss, from the Italian comedy to dramas lead character. He has also worked on tv, as a brilliant actor (sometimes in team with Mina), singer and dancer. Over the course of his successful career, Giannini worked with many great Italian directors, such as Luchino Visconti ('L’innocente', 1976), Sergio Corbucci ('Il bestione', 1974; 'Bello mio', 'Bellezza mia', 1982), Mario Monicelli ('Viaggio con Anita', 1979; 'I Picari', 1988; 'Il male oscuro', 1990), Dino Risi ('Sessomatto', 1973 and the TV production 'Vita coi figli', 1990), Alberto Lattuada ('Sono stato io!', 1973), Nanni Loy ('Mi manda Picone', 1984, David di Donatello for best actor), Tinto Brass ('Snack Bar Budapest', 1988), Franco Brusati ('Lo zio indegno', 1989). He dubbed several great international stars, like Al Pacino (Giannini and Amendola have been the famous actor’s official voice for years), Jack Nicholson, Michael Douglas, Gérard Depardieu, Jeremy Irons, Dustin Hoffman (in 'Marathon Man'), Ian McKellen (in 'Richard III'), Ryan O’Neal (in 'Barry Lyndon') e Leonard Whiting (in 'Romeo and Juliet'). He was awarded with prestigious prizes both in Italy (David di Donatello and Nastro d’Argento) and abroad (Cannes Film Festival). He was Oscar nominated for Best Actor in 'Pasqualino Settebellezze' by Lina Wertmüller at the 1977 Academy Awards.
