The Office

The office is located in the 4th pavilion, on a covered surface of 1.800 sq m, in the beautiful scenario of the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, once Ducrox facories, spaces that hare more and more identified has devoted to contemporary experimentation, to the meeting between European and Mediterranean cultures, as well as spaces of debate and fusion between different arts and crafts.

The Sicily Office has produced 50 among short and medium films, other than 10 graduation features, real début films. A bet that has the taste of an extraordinary educational experience of the 12 “Filmmaker” students graduated in 2012, and of the 12 victors of the new call for application, that all have the unique privilege in Italy to study documentary direction.

Young Sicilian talents that, at the end of the longest and most difficult among the training offered by the national school of cinema, leave the Palermo school with a higher specialization diploma, and many contacts acquired thanks to the acquaintance with authors, directors, actors, producers, and film technicians that share, along with the Office direction, the dream of a “House of cinema”.

Classrooms and workstations

The Office is equipped with several classrooms and a state-of-the-art editing room, with 13 ultra-modern workstations. A technologically advanced event area, a 80 seats screening room (Blu hall), a 250 sq m theatre with the largest “virtual set” in Sicily, a 100 seats auditorium (White hall) equipped with a stage, a speaker-dubing cabin and a direct translation facility, and two host workstations for audio and video post-production.

Events

Numerous are the events organized as extra-curricular activities, such as press conferences, national film previews of the documentaries financed by the regional Film Commission, masterclass with major national and international directors, seminars on cinema, and restropectives open to the public.

The Sicily Office, born in 2008 thanks to the agreement between CSC, Regione siciliana and Palermo municipality, is financed for its functioning and didactic via a budgetary chapter of the Sicilian regional law 16 of 2007. The Palermo municipality owns the structure and foresee to all the facilities.
