Description

This issue of «Bianco e Nero» is devoted to a couple, with the intention of honouring two outstanding talents of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia: Francesca Calvelli and Marco Bellocchio have been both work partners (together they have produced fifteen films, spanning from Il sogno di una farfalla in 1994 to the acclaimed TV series Esterno notte in 2022) and life partners for almost thirty years. Marco Bellocchio attended the CSC between the late 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s and graduated in Film Directing, although he initially enrolled in the Acting course. Francesca Calvelli was a pupil of Roberto Perpignani, she graduated in Editing at the CSC and years later filled his position as lead professor of the course, alongside Annalisa Forgione. The purpose of this issue is also to highlight the efforts of all those who work behind the scenes within the filmmaking industry, with special attention to the role of the editor, which is critical and often deeply influences the film’s artistic value.
